Acts 8

Daily Devotional from Acts 8—

Verses 29-31
And the Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and join this chariot." So Philip ran to him and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?" And he said, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

The scriptures tell us that when we seek the Lord with our whole heart we will find Him. In this chapter, the Ethiopian eunuch had come to Jerusalem to worship. The scripture doesn’t tell us his name, but that he was a court official of Candace, queen of Ethiopia. The Holy Spirit sent Philip to him while he was reading the scriptures from Isaiah 53.

The Lord provided a guide when the eunuch needed it most. The Lord still provides a guide exactly when we need one. The result of Philip’s obedience led the eunuch to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Whether we are the one being sent as a guide or the one receiving guidance, the Lord always provides when we seek Him with our whole heart.
