Exodus 13-15
Daily Devotional from Exodus 14--
Verse 14
The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
The Israelites were in the midst of a tricky situation. Their backs were against the Red Sea. In front of them was the entire Egyptian army. They had nowhere to go. Can you imagine the anxiety? Did God deliver them from Egyptian oppression--just to be annihilated by their hands? Yet, God had something in mind that was beyond imagination. All God was asking was that they trust. God did not deliver them just to let them die.
If you’re into films and stories like I am, you’ll recognize that when someone is in a terrifying, stressful situation silence is not in the cards. But for the rare character that is silent, it is because they know that something is coming. They know rescue is imminent.
Silence in the face of trouble is due to a deep-rooted trust that God’s got your back. God is before you and behind you. Even if things look dire, be confident that the King of Kings is fighting for you today. You have only to be silent.
