Daily Devotional from John 18--

Verse 36

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would have been fighting, that I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.”

Pilate had nothing to fear from followers of Jesus - their mission was not to overthrow Roman rule. If only the Crusaders had listened to the  words of Jesus, multitudes of lives would not have been lost, on both sides.

You cannot force your religion on others.

Entrance into God’s kingdom must come through a change of heart, not coerced by a sword.

God’s kingdom is not of this world, but it is a spiritual realm where Jesus rules from his throne in heaven. We, as Christians, are citizens of His kingdom, doing our part to share His message of love, through word and deed.
