Matthew 9

Daily Devotionals from Matthew 9--

Verse 12
But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick."

It’s tempting, and even easy, to avoid those who aren’t like us. Sometimes we find it more comforting to surround ourselves with those who believe like we do. Eventually, we can even start to view those different than us, like non-believers, as a threat, the enemy, and something we should avoid.

But Jesus sat with sinners. He ate with them. He loved them. And we are called to do the same. How will we fulfill the Great Commission (Matthew 28:16-20) or the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:37-39) if we don’t go to the people who need to hear the Gospel? Yes, we need close and meaningful relationships with other Christians, that’s still important. But, we must not neglect those who need to meet the Great Physician—Jesus.

Today, talk with someone outside of your comfort zone who needs to hear the Good News of Jesus.
