Daily Devotional from Numbers 9--

Verse 23

At the command of the Lord they camped, and at the command of the Lord they set out.

Sometimes we stay put; sometimes we move forward. It all depends on what the Lord is doing.

Verses 15-23 describe the cloud by day and the fire by night. When it lingered over the tabernacle, Israel remained. When the cloud lifted, Israel broke camp. And they lived this way for forty years – completely flexible.

In these last few years a mobile church, going through a pandemic, I think we can identify with the children of Israel. Nothing seems to be set and everything is liable to change. But the Lord makes it simple. He says, just keep your eye on me and trust that I will lead the way.

Keep your eye on the Lord.
