1 Chronicles 29
Daily Devotional from 1 Chronicles 29--
Verse 9 & 14
“9 Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly. 14 But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.”
There is great joy in giving, especially when it’s for the Lord. There has to be a recognition that all we have is because of God, and there is freedom when we can willingly say it still belongs to God. God blesses our giving because it shows Him that we have open hands; we cling tightly only to Him. Like willingly giving a tithe, I get more back when I give it. I receive joy, I grow in trust, and I even handle my money with more care. God blesses me to use the 90% better than I could use 100%.
2 Corinthians 9:7 says that God loves a cheerful giver. So let’s be people who give cheerfully! Let’s commit ourselves to willingly giving to God, and warm His heart by doing so.
God can and will bless open hands.
