Job 4

Daily Devotional from Job 4--

Verses 3-5
“Behold, you have instructed many, and you have strengthened the weak hands. Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, and you have made firm the feeble knees. But now it has come to you, and you are impatient; it touches you, and you are dismayed.”

From his strength, Job has ministered to many, encouraging and helping the weak get stronger. Now that he is suffering, his friends assume he has sinned against God. This suffering is his penalty, and they wonder why he can’t see it. After all, you reap what you sow. If Job is reaping suffering, then he must have sown sin.

Not all suffering is due to personal sin. But there are consequences for sin, and sometimes we must pay.  Thank God that He is merciful, and He doesn’t always extend to us the penalty we deserve.
