2 Chronicles 22
Daily Devotional from 2 Chronicles 22--
Verse 11
“But Jehoshabeath, the daughter of the king, took Joash the son of Ahaziah and stole him away from among the king’s sons who were about to be put to death, and she put him and his nurse in a bedroom. Thus Jehoshabeath, the daughter of King Jehoram and wife of Jehoiada the priest, because she was a sister of Ahaziah, hid him from Athaliah, so that she did not put him to death.”
This is such an epic story! When it seemed all hope was lost for the line of Judah, Jehoshabeath did what she needed to preserve the King’s line. This is what brought Judah back to honoring God after many long years of wickedness. Ahaziah had a wicked mother and wicked counsel, but Joash grew up in the house of the LORD, among Levites who honored God. When he sat on the throne, he tore down the idols and made Judah worship Yahweh again.
I’m sure we’ve all faced an impossible situation where it felt like evil was winning. But remember—Christ has won the victory over death and the grave! We have hope in His promise to bring redemption to our world. And, even in those impossible situations, God is working—even if we can’t see it - and He is there with us—even when we don’t feel it. Trust in Him today and let the peace of the Holy Spirit surround you even when you are facing uncertainty.
