Psalm 97
Daily Devotional from Psalm 97–
Verse 1, 3, & 12 (CSB)
“The LORD reigns! Let the earth rejoice; let the many coasts and islands be glad…Fire goes up before him and burns up his foes on every side... Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones, and give thanks to his holy name.”
The God we worship is a ruling and reigning king with a kingdom that WILL NOT be defeated. His enemies have no chance. They are fighting a losing battle.
Do we live and operate as if we are walking with a king that cannot lose?
All the pain, destruction, chaos, and sadness of the world is produced by people who don’t know that God reigns. That troublesome co-worker? They likely don’t understand God’s goodness. The hostile neighbor? They haven’t been convinced of the LORD’s victory yet. What would devastate anyone outside of the LORD should not devastate us because we know how this will end.
We live in a world that feels hopeless, but we have a hope that is firm and secure—an anchor for our soul— that Jesus is on the throne and he already won. Walk in gladness, joy and victory today, because Jesus is on the throne.
