Job 31
Daily Devotional from Job 31--
Verses 5-6
If I have walked with falsehood and my foot has hastened to deceit; (Let me be weighed in a just balance, and let God know my integrity!)
Job knows that God is a just God.
And he is willing to accept the penalty for any discretion. But in his heart, he thinks he’s innocent; he is a good man. He is even making a list of all of the things he could’ve done wrong and didn’t do.
In the New Testament, we learned that all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. There is no scale used by God that allows our good deeds to outweigh our bad deeds.
We all like to think the best about ourselves. But the reality is, we all have sinned and deserve the judgment of God.
Thank God for His mercy; for He said if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
