Nehemiah 9

Daily Devotional from Nehemiah 9--

Verse 28b
“Yet when they turned and cried to you, you heard from heaven, and many times you delivered them according to your mercies.”

This is the story of the Israelites in the Old Testament–rebellion, repentance, and forgiveness. Really, this is the story of humanity. We fall into sin, come to our senses and repent, and then experience God’s grace, mercy, and forgiveness. In this chapter, the Israelites recognize their position and make a new covenant with God.

Sometimes we have to start fresh with God. That’s what it means to rededicate one’s life to the Lord. Maybe you’ve been slowly drifting away from God, or you made a big mistake and need to make it right. If you find yourself far from him, it’s not too late to come back. You are never too far gone to start afresh. In Lamentations 2, the Bible reminds us that God’s mercies are new every morning!
