Psalm 79

Daily Devotional from Psalm 79–

Verse 13
“So we, Your people and sheep of Your pasture, will give You thanks forever; we will show forth Your praise to all generations.” 

This psalm encapsulates what real grief can look like and how we can bring it before God. The psalmist cries out, “How long, Lord?” I’m sure we’ve all felt this way at one time or another, asking God, How much longer will I be in this season? How much longer will I feel this pain?

Sometimes, our hard seasons and pain can be self-inflicted, and that can be incredibly uncomfortable to sit with. But this psalm shows us that we can bring those big emotions to God, repent, receive His mercy, and still give Him thanks. God can handle every emotion and every uncertainty. We can count it all joy because God is in control, and He is faithful to those who put their trust in Him.
