Job 22

Daily Devotional from Job 22--

“If you return to the Almighty you will be built up; if you remove injustice far from your tents, if you lay gold in the dust, and gold of Ophir among the stones of the torrent-bed, for then you will delight yourself in the Almighty and lift up your face to God.”

Job‘s friends are still convinced that he has sinned and is suffering as a result.
They are encouraging him to repent. If he does, then the Lord will change his
circumstances. If Job will just admit that he has done wrong and put God first, his fortunes will be restored.

While overall this is good advice, in the New Testament, Jesus teaches us that calamity is not necessarily a result of sin, and that God works all things (good and bad) together for good to those who love Him and are chosen to do His work of restoration. (Romans 8:28)
