Job 9

Daily Devotional from Job 9--

Verses 20 & 33
“Though I am in the right, my own mouth would condemn me; though I am blameless, he would prove me perverse…There is no arbiter between us, that might lay his hand upon us both.”

If, like Job, we regard ourselves as sinless and try to claim it before God, this only shows our self-righteousness. We would be sinning in saying so. Job cries out for an arbiter (daysman, advocate, mediator) between God and man. “For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

The Lord Jesus Christ is our mediator! He bought our righteousness with his blood. We are no longer condemned by our sin, but by faith in Jesus! We are blameless, not by what we have done, but by what He did on the cross. Hallelujah!

See 1 Corinthians 15:56-57, Romans 8:1.
