1 Kings 16
Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 16–
Verse 31
And as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, he took for his wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Sidonians, and went and served Baal and worshiped him.
A well-known Spanish proverb says, “Tell me who your friends are, and I will tell you who you are.” Ahab was already walking a dark path, but marrying Jezebel? The daughter of a pagan priest who became king of Tyre & Sidon by assassinating his predecessor. That’s Ahab’s new wife. A liar, a murderess, a thief and a rebel.
These two were a powerhouse of evil, leading their nation into the depths of darkness. It makes a difference who you’re connected to. If Ahab’s sin could be so egregiously compounded by his wife’s sin, imagine how the power of the HOLY Spirit living and moving in you can be beautifully, powerfully compounded when you surround yourself with other children of Light! For where two or more are gathered, HE is in the midst of them and HE has conquered sin, death and darkness!
We don’t just gather with other believers for fun and fellowship but to punch a hole in the veil of spiritual darkness in our cities!
