1 Kings 8
Daily Devotional from 1 Kings 9–
Verse 12
But when Hiram came from Tyre to see the cities that
Solomon had given him, they did not please him.
In exchange for all the materials, labor and gold that King
Hiram generously provided for the building of the temple,
Solomon gifted him twenty “valueless” cities, which Hiram took as an insult. Perhaps Solomon’s financial resources were depleted and he had only land left to give, but this insult impacted future relations between the two kings.
In exchange for all of the gifts God has given us throughout our lives, what are we offering in return? Our time? Our talents? Our finances? Our hearts? Are we giving our best, or could our giving be considered “insulting”?
Is our lack of generosity to the Father and his mission
impacting our relationship with him?
Pause and consider.
