2 Kings 13
Daily Devotional from 2 Kings 14--
Verse 4
But the high places were not removed; the people still sacrificed and made offerings on the high places.
In our passage, we see kings who “did what was evil” and kings who “did what was right.” But those doing right always had one downfall—letting the worship of false gods continue. The kings could have torn down the high places of false worship, but they did not.
Are we letting “false gods” into our lives? We may be doing right in most areas of our relationship with God, but He wants all of our hearts and all of our worship. Maybe you’re putting a political leader, spouse, pastor, teacher, etc. in a high place that only belongs to Jesus.
Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to search us and reveal to us where we may be putting more trust in someone else. Let Psalm 139:23-24 be our prayer today:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!”
